When you place an order on Amazon, the order is recorded as part of your account history. This allows you to easily find past orders and re-order items that you previously purchased. While you can’t delete your order history, you can archive them. Archiving orders hides past orders, but they are still attached to your account.

Fortunately, finding them is pretty easy — you just have to follow a few steps to get to them. Let’s take a look at how you can view your archived Amazon orders.

What Are Archived Orders?

Archived orders are those you no longer wish to see on your Amazon account. Orders on Amazon are not automatically archived so you will have to move them manually. The process of moving your orders is incredibly simple and straight-forward.

If you have purchased a secret gift for someone who also uses the Amazon account, you can archive the order to make it less obvious. If you’re running a business and need to remove the orders you’ve already collected the information for, this is an option for you.

If you’ve purchased an item you’d rather not have anyone else see, use this option to hide the details. You’ll also need to remove your search history for Amazon to maintain secrecy.

Archiving orders on Amazon doesn’t delete the information, it simply moves it to the back burner. Archiving isn’t permanent either, you have the option to move the orders to and from the archive folder as you please.

How to Hide Amazon Orders

If you’ve already made orders on Amazon before, sign in to your account and go to the homepage. There are multiple ways to hide an order, but let’s stick to the most straightforward one — archiving.

To archive a past order, follow these instructions:

  1. Log into Amazon.
  2. Click Returns & Orders in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Scroll through your orders until you find the one you’d like to archive.
  4. Click on Order Details next to the order in question.
  5. Click Archive Order.
  6. Confirm by clicking Archive Order again.

Although this is a quick and simple solution to hiding the items you’ve ordered in the past, there are other ways to get Amazon to permanently delete your account information. Thanks to user privacy laws, the company will provide you details about your account, or let you permanently delete some information.

Otherwise, if you just want to hide orders without deleting your account information, this process will work for you.

How to Find Your Archived Orders on Amazon

Don’t worry, your archived orders are still there. As mentioned previously, they will never go away, even if you deactivate your Amazon account.

To access the archived orders:

  1. Log into your Amazon account.
  2. Hover over the Accounts & Lists dropdown in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Your Account from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Archived orders in the Ordering and shopping preferences subsection.

If you’d like to move your order back to the standard orders page, simply click ‘Unarchive Order’ in the lower left-hand corner. There’s no need to confirm this, once you click the option your order will go back to its rightful place in the orders tab.

How to Hide Your Amazon Search History

While the above method will remove your orders from your ‘recent orders’ list, your browsing history on Amazon will still show your searches, which makes it easy for someone to snoop on your orders.

To delete your Amazon history, log into your account, then find the ‘Browsing History’ link towards the top-right of the Amazon homepage. If you’re having trouble finding this link, click Ctrl + F and type the words ‘browsing history’ to search the phrase on the current page.

When you click this option, you’ll see a list of recent searches. You may have to click ‘Manage History’ in the right-hand corner for the dropdown options to appear. Hit ‘Remove’ from view for each item that you want to remove from the search history.

You can also turn off ‘Browsing History’ by toggling the switch from orange to grey.

Amazon tracks everything you buy. Here’s how to make that work for you.

Given all of the time we spend shopping on Amazon, the retailer picks up some major hints about our lives: Our hobbies, the phones and gaming consoles we own, our taste in books, the toys our kids play with, our garden equipment, and even our affection for DIY. Amazon relies on this information to target us with better recommendations for new products and more relevant advertising.

Even with all that data, the retail leviathan can sometimes miss the mark. If its recommendations leave you cold, or you simply want to adjust the ads you see, you can tweak these settings to make them more accurate and more helpful. Here’s how to view your full Amazon history, and use it to get more out of the site.

View your order history

Can’t remember if you’ve put an order in for a new tablet or not? Need a reminder of when you bought that Rolling Stones vinyl? Go ahead and check your full order history.

To take a look, log onto the Amazon website (not the app), hover over the Accounts & Lists section, and click Your Orders. The next screen will show you everything you’ve ever purchased from Amazon, in reverse chronological order. You can see when items were ordered, when they were delivered, and where they were delivered to, which makes this a useful page to check if something has gone missing.

In addition, the buttons on the right side of the screen let you take more actions. You can request refunds on recent orders, leave reviews, or ask a seller a question about an item. You can also remove your embarrassing purchases from this list by clicking Hide Order. And if you’re looking for something specific, take advantage of the Search all orders box at the top of the page.

Amazon also lets you download all this data from the Order History Reports web page in a CSV, or Comma Separated Values, format, which lets you plunk that information into a spreadsheet app. First, however, you get to set some parameters. For example, you can select a specific time span that the report should cover. In addition, you can choose to include only certain types of purchases, like products that you returned and had refunded. When you’ve put the right settings in place, click Request Report, and make sure to give it a name to make it easier to identify later.

When your report is ready, Amazon will send you an email. At that point, you can download the CSV file from the same page you used to request it. Open it with Excel, Numbers, or another spreadsheet app, and then play around with your order history—for example, you can graph how much money you’ve spent on books or DVDs over time.

Improve your recommendations

While this data lets you analyze your own order history, its primary purpose is helping Amazon determine your personal preferences. In addition to your order history, Amazon analyzes your behavior, like pausing to look at a product and lingering longer than usual, into the recommendations that pop up all over the website. Yet even these advanced algorithms don’t always understand what you’re looking for. In that case, you can take steps to refine them.

The simplest way is to write reviews of your purchases. Your star ratings will tell Amazon exactly what you do and don’t like. You can do this from the Your Orders page by clicking on the Write a product review button. Or visit the page for the item itself and scroll down to the Write a customer review button.

But you can also directly tweak your recommendations. To dig deeper, look for the Account & Lists button at the top of the website, hover the cursor over it, and choose Your Recommendations. This page has multiple sections for topics like books and movies. Click any of these sections, followed by View All & Manage. Then toggle the Edit Recommendations switch on the top right of the page to On. Now you can edit your list of preferences: Select the Remove option for items you really don’t care for and the More like this one for items you like.

To go one step further, look at the top of the page, above your recommendations, and select Your Browsing History. This shows you the items that you’ve looked at for so long, Amazon thinks you’re interested in buying them. If you don’t want these to influence the recommendations you see, then you can remove these items one by one. For example, you might get rid of all the Legos you’ve been looking up while shopping for kids’ gifts, preventing the toys from dominating your recommendations.

Finally, go back to that navigation bar along the top and click Improve Your Recommendations. Here, you’ll see all your purchases in reverse chronological order. Use the options on the right side of the page to rate individual items, mark them as gifts (so Amazon knows you’re not necessarily interested in them yourself), and specifically remove products from consideration by the recommendations algorithm.

Tweak the sponsored ads

As you browse around Amazon, not all of the items you see are results of its recommendation engine. Some of these advertisements come from manufacturers and sellers who want to put their goods in front of a wider audience. You can also influence which types of these sponsored spots appear.

If you look closely at a sponsored ad, you’ll see an Ad feedback link underneath. Click it to call up a new dialog box, where you can mark how relevant the ad is to your interests and to Amazon as a whole. You’ll also get the opportunity to leave a comment—just don’t expect a reply, because the Amazon team aggregates and reviews them en masse. Give feedback on a handful of ads, and they should gradually become more relevant to your interests.

Beef up your privacy

What if you want to stop Amazon from using your browsing to produce its recommendations and ads? For example, you may be researching something you have no interest in buying, or looking for gifts for someone else.

Browser extensions such as Adblock Plus (for all modern browsers) and Privacy Badger (for Chrome, Opera, and Firefox) stop many websites, including Amazon, from tracking your activities. With these add-ons, you’re less likely to see ads for items similar to those you’ve been viewing. Of course, if you ever do want to receive tailored recommendations based on your browsing, you’ll need to disable these plug-ins.

Here’s another handy shortcut for untracked browsing: Fire up your browser in incognito or private mode and search Amazon without first signing into your account. Although the website will still log your data, it will only be on a temporary basis, and it will wipe this information when you shut the private window. On future searches, this private browsing won’t leave traces in your recommendations or sponsored ads.

Unhelpful Amazon Order Confirmation E-mails

Amazon order confirmations and shipment notifications no longer include any item details. I could not for the life of me figure out why they would do this. They’re not scored on MAUs, they don’t need me to click through. Then I realized: is it so Google can’t see my order data?

I’ve been wondering about this for a while. It’s really annoying not to be able to search one’s own order history. I end up printing each order confirmation Web page to PDF.

Fulfillment by Amazon

You can use Fulfillment by Amazon to store your inventory at and fulfill your orders from an Amazon.com fulfillment center. Before you set this up, you'll need to have an Amazon Seller Central account.

Note

Shopify's built-in Fulfillment by Amazon integration is available only to Amazon sellers with Amazon Marketplace accounts for the United States and Canada based on your store currency. If your store currency is set to CAD, then your Amazon Marketplace account needs to be for Canada. Otherwise, your Amazon Marketplace account needs to be for the United States. If your Amazon Marketplace account is for another region, then you need to use a third-party app integration for Fulfillment by Amazon.

If you use Fulfillment by Amazon for a product, then you can't also stock the product in the locations that you manage.

Note

When you cancel an order in Shopify that includes a product fulfilled by Amazon, you need to manually cancel the fulfillment in Amazon as well to prevent the product from being shipped.

Activate Fulfillment by Amazon

Caution

The Amazon sales channel is no longer supported. To continue using Fulfillment by Amazon, you need to use a Multi-Channel Fulfillment solution recommended by Amazon.

Set shipping rates for Fulfillment by Amazon

After you've activated Fulfillment by Amazon, you need to create new Amazon shipping rates in your Shopify admin. These appear to your customers at checkout.

Amazon offers the following shipping rates:

  • Standard
  • Expedited
  • Priority

For each of your shipping zones, you need to add separate shipping rates that match each of these Amazon shipping rates.

When setting your shipping rates, you might want to take a look at Amazon's fulfillment rates to help you decide what to charge.

Make sure that you complete the following tasks:

  • Create a separate rate for each Amazon shipping option.
  • Copy the name of the Amazon shipping rates (either Standard, Expedited, or Priority) into the Shipping rate name field.
  • Set the Criteria to Based on order weight, not price.

If your shipping rates are set up incorrectly, then you might get an error while fulfilling an order through Amazon. If you notice this error, return to your shipping rates, and make sure they match the criteria listed above.

If you want to markup your shipping rates to cover Amazon's fulfillment fees, then you can add weight and price information to reflect Amazon's Fulfillment Fees for Multi-Channel Fulfillment Orders.

Configure products for Fulfillment by Amazon

Note

Make sure you've activated Fulfillment by Amazon and added their shipping rates before you configure your products.

The procedure for configuring your products varies slightly depending on whether you are:

Configure new products for Fulfillment by Amazon

Steps:

  1. When you’re adding a new product, scroll down to the Shipping section of the Add a product page.
  2. Select Amazon Marketplace Web from the Fulfillment service drop-down menu.
  3. In the Inventory section, select Amazon Marketplace Web tracks this variant's inventory from the Inventory policy drop-down menu.

    Note

    You can set your inventory to be tracked by Shopify, but it is recommended you select Amazon to make sure that you maintain correct inventory levels for your fulfillment and dropshipping service.

  4. Make sure that you've entered exact values in the Weight and SKU fields. These must match the values you used for your Fulfillment by Amazon product list. In Amazon, the SKU is called Seller SKU or Merchant SKU (MSKU).

  5. Click Save product.

Configure existing products for Fulfillment by Amazon

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products > All products.

  2. Click the name of the product you want to enable fulfillment for.

  3. In the Inventory section, select Amazon Marketplace Web from the Inventory policy drop-down menu.

  4. Make sure that you've entered correct values in the Weight and SKU fields. These must match the values you used for your Fulfillment by Amazon product list. In Amazon, the SKU is called Seller SKU or Merchant SKU (MSKU).

  5. Click Save.

Tip

If you have many products to edit, then you might want to use the bulk editor or export your products as a .csv file.

Fulfill orders with Fulfillment by Amazon

After your products are configured, Amazon automatically syncs with your orders every hour. After your orders are synced, you need to manually request that Amazon fulfill your orders.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. From the Orders page, click the order number.

  3. In the Order Details section, click Request fulfillment to open the order’s Fulfillment page. By default, every line item is set to be fulfilled, but you can fulfill part of an order if you want.

  4. Select Send fulfillment.

  5. Click Fulfill items to mark the order as Fulfilled.

Note

When you cancel an order in Shopify that includes a product fulfilled by Amazon, you need to manually cancel the fulfillment in Amazon as well to prevent the product from being shipped.

View the order status

After you mark an order as fulfilled in Shopify, you need to wait for Amazon to accept or reject the order. You can view an order's status from the Orders page.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. View the order's fulfillment status in the Fulfillment status column:

    • If the order hasn't synced with Amazon yet, then it has an status.
    • If the order was accepted by Amazon, then it has a status.
    • If the order was rejected by Amazon because of an error, then it has an status.

After you mark an order as fulfilled, you can review the order's fulfillment details from the Timeline section on the order's page.

Deactivate Fulfillment by Amazon

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.

  2. In the FulFillment by Amazon section, click Deactivate.

Why isn’t my package showing up when I type in my shipment number?

It can take up to an hour for a shipment to appear in our system. Give it a bit of time then try tracking your parcel again. Shipments stay in our system for approximately 90 days.

Why does my shipment number bring up shipments that aren’t mine?

We handle over two million shipments a month. That means the eight-digit numbers used to track parcels get reused every three or four weeks. Your number might bring up a selection of shipments – one of them will be yours. Don’t worry: all personal information is hidden.

Track & Trace tells me I’ve missed my delivery. Can I rearrange it?

Of course. If the driver left a ‘We Missed You’ card, you or your customer can use it to arrange another delivery. No card? Just get in touch. You’ll need your shipment number and the delivery address to hand. Please note: shipments can only be redelivered between Monday and Friday.

I’ve just tracked my package and there’s an issue. What now?

Don’t panic. We’ll be in touch if there’s anything you need to do.

What is Amazon?

Amazon, or Amazon Incorporated, is an American multinational company based in Washington which specialises in technology services, namely e-commerce, digital streaming, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

Since its humble beginnings, Amazon has gone from strength to strength and enjoyed huge success, earning the company its place as one of the big five US companies, alongside Apple, Microsoft, Google and Facebook. In 2015, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the most valuable retailer in the United States and three years later its own in-house two-day delivery service (Amazon Prime) surpassed some 100 million global subscribers.

Today, Amazon is the largest company in the world if measured by revenue and in 2020, Amazon recorded the highest brand evaluation worldwide.

The company's success is down to its effective disruption of well-established industries through innovative technology-based solutions.
Amazon continues to push technological innovation in its products, expanding in to audio and video streaming through Prime Video, Amazon Music, Twitch and Audible subsidiaries and has also moved in to publishing and film and television in the launch of Amazon Publishing and Amazon Studios.

The company now also produces consumer electronics, including its popular Kindle e-reader series and Fire TV devices.

Who does Amazon ship with?

Amazon uses a variety of couriers for the delivery of its orders, including UPS, USPS, and FedEx among others. It also has its own inhouse delivery capabilities, through an extensive transportation portfolio which includes its own trucks and planes. The latter take flight from around 20 airports around the US to various destinations, in order to continue to meet the growing demand for products.

Below is the list of carriers that are most commonly used by Amazon for deliveries.

However, Amazon also uses a number of other carriers including ABF Freight System Inc, CEVA Logistics, Australia Post, Deprisa, DB Schenker, ECMS EXPRESS, i-parcel, Fidelitone, Innovel Solutions, Israel Post (ILP), Landmark Global, Lonestar Overnight, NSD, Parcel Pool, SF Express, WnDirect, XPO Logistics, TForce Final Mile, OnTrac, Pilot, Menlo Worldwide/UPS Supply Chain Solutions, and LaserShip.

The Amazon distribution network was first launched in 1997 with processing centers first opened in Seattle and Delaware. Now, Amazon has multiple types of distribution facilities, including crossdock centers, fulfillment centers, sortation centers and delivery stations. A computer system is used to check goods in and out thus recording the location of orders. The system also helps the company map out routes for pickers.

How do I track my Amazon order?

Order tracking on any carriers used by Amazon can be done through the Ship24 website using the tracking number that buyers either receive from the seller upon purchase, or which can alternatively be found on the Amazon website or inside your email inbox. If you have a problem with your order, you can either contact the Amazon support team or if you are aware of the courier your parcel is with, you can contact them directly.

However, buyers should note:

  • Some national carriers will use local or regional couriers to ship your Amazon package or parcel. If this is the case, your Amazon tracking information may not be available on the national carrier website. However, Ship24 interacts directly with over 700 couriers and its comprehensive tracking system allows it to detect changes in tracking codes that may occur as parcels pass between different couriers. Simply enter your original tracking number on to the Ship24 website and let us do the rest.

Where is my Amazon parcel?

There are two options available to buyers to track their Amazon orders. Buyers can either use:

  • Amazon App: This is where buyers can check on their Amazon parcel locations using their Amazon tracking ID numbers or codes. Buyers will be able to see a map showing them the location of their Amazon parcels in real-time. This function can be accessed as many times as desired by the buyer and operates on a twenty-four hour seven day a week system.
  • Amazon Website: This is another platform where buyers can access and track Amazon parcels, with up-to-date information readily available on their order when they add their tracking code.

When using either of these options, buyers should click on the "Go to your Orders" section, select the order they want to check and click on the "Track Package" option. The buyer will then be prompted to enter their tracking ID number for their Amazon parcel and once entered, will instantly receive Amazon tracking information.

However, if the website or app says that no tracking information is available, customers should go to Amazon Missing Packages section, which will contain information about any missing packages.

Some of the features included on the Amazon website and which are available to customers are explained in more detail below.

  • Amazon Map: This feature is a live map function on the app or website which gives buyers a visual location on their orders in real-time. Buyers can use this option to check on the progress of shipped packages on a live map. This can be accessed by clicking on the "Track Package" option from either a confirmation email or in the "Your Orders" section.
  • SMS Text Tracking: This feature allows you to track your Amazon parcel thanks to information sent to you via SMS.

Buyers can also track their Amazon parcels using the ship24.com website, with just their Amazon tracking ID number. Anyone wishing to track their Amazon parcel will just need to go on the homepage and enter the Amazon tracking code into the search bar to get instant tracking information about the status of their Amazon package.

How long does Amazon take to ship?

Most sellers on Amazon, including Amazon itself if you are buying an Amazon product, ship your order within 2 business days. The following list shows the average Amazon shipping timeframes unless otherwise mentioned in the seller's policies:

  • Standard U. S. : This option normally takes 4-14 business days after shipping but may take up to 21 days
  • Expedited U. S. : This option normally takes 2-6 business days after shipping
  • Two-Day U. S. : This option normally takes 2 business days after shipping
  • One-Day U. S. : This option normally takes 1 business day after shipping
  • International Standard: This option normally takes 3-6 weeks, but it could take up to 12 weeks depending on customs delay and other varying factors
  • International Expedited: This option normally takes 3-7 business days

Like all shipping methods, the delivery time may vary based on the destination of the package, customs, holidays, and other unforeseen delays which should be taken in to account. If the seller is aware of any potential delays, they should notify the customer upon purchase. However, buyers should also be aware that busier periods, such as around Christmas and Chinese New Year, could mean parcel deliveries are delayed due to a higher than normal volume of orders.

Also, the weight, size and destination of the Amazon order will also have some effect on the time it takes to deliver the package. It is best to check with the seller if your package is particularly large or it is destined for a rural location to see whether there will be added delays on top of the usual delivery turn around.

I love Amazon. I choose an item, and it magically arrives a few days later at my house; sometimes it arrived on the same day. The Amazon Delivery Attempt

If you are not at the delivery address when Amazon tries to deliver your package, Amazon will leave the package in a secure location. If you don’t have a secure location, or the delivery requires you to be present, Amazon will send you an e-mail.

Amazon will try to deliver three times on consecutive days. If the third delivery attempt is unsuccessful the package will be returned to Amazon for a refund.

What is Amazon Guaranteed Delivery?

Firstly, let’s understand what Amazon Guaranteed Delivery actually means.

If you head over to the official help page, you will see that you can get a refund when your order does not arrive. However, there are terms and conditions:

    • Shipping method selected is shipping option advertised on a product detail page.
    • Order is shipping to eligible address.
    • Order is placed before “order within” countdown listed on the checkout page. The “order within” countdown timer provides the window of time in which you must place your order to receive your delivery by the date shown.   2. Click “An Order I Placed.”
  3. Select your order
  4. Choose “Problem with order”
  5. Select “Shipping or delivery issues”

When you chat with the friendly Amazon staff, they’ll find your order and give you any updates on why the package was not delivered. If the reason for the delay is unreasonable, they might be able to offer a refund on your delivery charges.
