Stay away from this bank, they are Crooks! In the 3 years that I have been banking with Wells Fargo I have sent hundreds of wires out to foreign country’s and received some wires back to the US. When i received a wire for $21000 and they closed my account without any notice i then received a form email that they closed my account for receiving an unsolicited wire. The local bank manager just shrug his shoulders. Stay away from this bank they are fee crooks.

Be careful when applying for a credit card here. Bank of America does not do good business and they don't seem to care about their customers. At the end of October, I applied for a card with 15 months 0% APR and $0 balance transfer fee that ended up being 18 months 0% APR and 3% balance transfer fee. They're saying I selected a different offer when requesting the transfer, trough their website. They've been awful to me ever since. Taught me a lesson to stick to the bigger, better companies who don't want to lose a customer over something as silly as this.

MIDLAND, MI – Chemical Financial Corp. announced it will acquire Lake Michigan Financial Corp., the Holland-based holding company for The Bank of Holland and the Bank of Northern Michigan.

The holding company for Chemical Bank will pay an estimated $184.1 million for Lake Michigan Financial, which operates five branches in Holland, Grand Rapids, Traverse City and Petoskey, according to an announcement on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

The acquisition continues Midland-based Chemical Financial’s strategy of growing into outstate Michigan through acquisitions. After closing, Chemical will be Michigan’s seventh largest bank ranked by deposit and the largest financial institution based in Michigan.

"Strategically, this partnership will significantly increase our presence in some of Michigan’s most attractive economic and demographic regions,” said David B. Ramaker, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Chemical Financial Corp.

“Lake Michigan Financial is among the best commercial and industrial loan originators in Michigan, with strong, long-term relationships with business owners and high net worth clients throughout western Michigan and northwest Michigan, which we believe will help drive meaningful organic growth in the future,” Ramaker said.

The acquisition will add about $1.2 billion in assets, $1 billion in deposits and about $900 million in loans to Chemical Financial's balance sheet.

Chemical Financial will increase its deposit market share in the Grand Rapids area to 9.6 percent from 6 percent and increase its deposit market share in the Traverse City area to 19.7 percent from 16 percent, the announcement said. In the Holland area, Chemical will increase its deposit market share to 28.4 percent from 3 percent.

"We are truly pleased with the opportunity to join the Chemical family. This partnership pairs two like-minded companies that have consistent core community banking philosophies and cultures," said Garth Deur, President and CEO of Lake Michigan Financial Corp.

“This partnership clearly reinforces Chemical’s position as the community bank for Michigan," said Ramaker, whose bank acquired Northwestern Bancorp, Inc. of Traverse City in 2014 for $120 million.

The Northwestern acquisition, which was completed in November, added 25 branches across 11 northwestern Michigan counties and increased Chemical Bank's core deposit base by approximately $760 million.

In 2012, Chemical acquired 21 branches of Independent Bank, a subsidiary of Ionia-based Independent Bank Corp.. Those branches were located Otsego, Alpena, Presque Isle, Montmorency, Roscommon, Iosco, Ogemaw, Calhoun and Kalamazoo counties.
