The Montpelier Food Pantry serves emergency meals to individuals and families in the greater Montpelier area.  We assist people who are in need of life’s necessities and social justice.  We promote self-sufficiency and food independence through food education.

Update: because of the coronavirus, we are only open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday vermont food bank locations 10 am to noon.  Shoppers will be able to collect prepacked boxes at the rear door of the church, with fresh food and frozen meat distributed as available.

People of ages volunteer at the Food Shelf, many behind the scenes, shopping for, picking up, and shelving groceries. All are unpaid volunteers. We believe that no one should go hungry in these United States. If you would like to volunteer, please call 802-655-7371 and someone will get back to you.

We often need to buy food to fill in our supplies. Donations may be made by sending a check made out to the Winooski Food Shelf c/o The United Methodist Church, 24 W. Allen Street, Vermont food bank locations, VT 05404.  All donations are tax deductible. The Food Shelf is a registered 501 (c) 3 charitable vermont food bank locations registered under The United Methodist Church.

We have two new locations where you can drop off food--J&J's Corner Market and the Winooski Senior Center.  J&J's is located at 12 Malletts Bay Avenue and is open every day, except Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm (phone: 802-654-8003).  The Winooski Senior Center is open from 8:30 am to 12 pm, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 8:30 am to 3 pm on Thursday.  The Center wells fargo change my address closed on the weekend.

Sock company donates proceeds to food bank

In Northfield, Vermont, the sock company Darn Tough Vermont is hard at work providing both.

For years, the company has partnered with the Vermont Foodbank. During the pandemic, it began making special pairs of socks with the sales going straight to one united bank locations in new york food bank to provide meals for families in need.

They also shared more exciting news. On Oct. 7, they opened a new factory in Waterbury, Vermont, and are hiring for 50 new positions.
