How to Make a Payment

Online Payments

With Online Banking, you have the flexibility to make a same-day payment, schedule a future payment or sign up for AutoPay, where your payment is scheduled on the same day each month. You can use a U.S. Bank checking account or an external account to make payments to your credit card. If you choose to set up an external payment account, it only needs to be set up once for all future payments.

To make an online payment:

  1. Log in to Online Banking.
  2. Under the “Bill Payments” tab, select “Pay My Account” or “Pay a U.S. Bank Account.”
  3. Select the Account you are paying, and the Account you are paying from.
  4. Select the frequency, either “Once” for a onetime payment or “Recurring” to set up AutoPay.
  5. Complete the remaining payment information and select “Continue.”
  6. Review the payment details and click “Submit.”

The cutoff time for same-day online (non-AutoPay) payments varies, but generally falls between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. (Central Time). Please contact Cardmember Service if you have questions about your applicable cutoff time.

To sign in to Online Banking:

  • Go to the Online Banking sign in page.
  • Enter your Client Card number (or username) and password. If you’ve created a username before, you need to use it to sign in.
  • Click Sign In.

Online Banking is also an extremely safe and secure way to bank, so you can be confident your money is protected at all times.

Enrol Online

As a personal banking client you'll need your RBC Royal Bank Client Card or credit card to enrol.

If you are an automotive finance, mortgage, credit line, Homeline, loan or investment client, you’ll need your account number and transit number.

If you’d like to enrol your business account for Online Banking, you’ll need your RBC Royal Bank Business Client Card.

Your banking password is the same for both online and mobile, so you can reset it either way.

Online banking:

Go to the Online Banking Sign-In page and select Reset Your Password, just below the Password field. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

RBC Mobile Users:

If your account is temporarily disabled, you can tap the Reset Password link anytime directly from the Sign In page. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

You will be sent a temporary authentication code via text (SMS), email or voice mail, which ever you prefer.

Remember: You’ll need your RBC Royal Bank Client Card number or an RBC Royal Bank Credit Card number associated with Online Banking.

The next time you’re going to sign in:  

  • Enter your Client Card number/username and password
  • Check the box Remember Me.
  • Click Sign In.
To protect your accounts, it’s a good idea not to use Remember Me on public computers.

You can make a bill payment in Online Banking.

Before you can make bill payments in Online Banking, you'll need to set up a list of payees. Sign in to Online Banking and select the "Manage Payees" option from the Accounts Summary page. You can then choose “Add Payee” in the left side menu and follow the instructions.

To make a payment online:

  • From the Accounts Summary page go to Quick Payments & Transfers on the right side of the page. You can also click on "Pay Bills" from the information box at the top of the page when viewing your chequing or savings account.
  • Select the Amount, the "From" Account and the recipient in the "To" field.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and select “Submit.”

Whether you're at home or away you can arrange to have payments and transfers made at a predetermined frequency or specified dates. Simply specify the amount and how often you want the transfers to occur (such as once a week, every 2 weeks or once a month).

  • Any request to add an authorized user to an account needs to be submitted by the account owner.

  • An account may have up to seven (7) authorized users at a time.
  • The card will be sent to the address we have on file.
  • A credit report is not pulled when we process a request to add an authorized user.
  • College, Secured, and Young Adult (co-signer) credit card accounts are not eligible to add authorized users.

Once you’ve set up automatic payment, we'll provide you a confirmation page to review. We'll tell you when your first automatic payment will start, the autopay details that were selected, and a reminder to pay the current month's payment due. To get started, choose the experience that works best for you.

  1. Select Bill payments at the top of the page, then choose Pay bills & U.S. Bank accounts.
  2. Locate the account you want automatically paid, then select Show details.

There's a few options available to reset your credit card PIN. Choose the one that works for you. 

Representative: If you're not sure what your PIN is, call us us at the phone number on the back of your card or at 800-285-8585 and request a PIN mailer to be sent to you. We accept relay calls.

Automated phone system: You must have your PIN mailer or the pre-selected PIN to use this option. Call 800-673-3555, listen to the menu options and enter the pre-selected PIN when prompted. We accept relay calls.

Branch/ATM: Visit us at any U.S. Bank branch or ATM. At the terminal, from the main menu, start by selecting Customize ATM, then select Change PIN. 

When selecting a PIN, be aware of the following restrictions:

  • It can't begin with a zero (0), be all nines (9999), or all zeros (0000)
  • You can't select 1234

A PIN mailer is a system generated number. Representatives can't set a specific PIN for you. Once you receive the mailer, follow the above steps to reset your PIN to a new number.

There comes a time when everyone needs additional funds. 

Online banking steps:

If you'd like to submit a request to increase your limit, just log into online banking and follow these steps:

  1. Select Customer Service from the top menu bar, then select Self Service.
  2. Within the Credit/Charge Account section, select Request Credit Limit Increase.
    • If the credit limit request link isn't displayed, please call 800-285-8585.
  3. Choose the card you'd like to submit the credit limit increase for.
  4. Provide your income and asset information, then select Continue to housing.
  5. Answer the questions regarding housing information, then select Review my request.
    • Check the box at the top if your account has multiple owners and everyone shares the same address. If the box is checked, it won't ask the other owner's housing information.
  6. Verify the details are correct, then select Submit my request.

U.S. Bank Mobile App steps:

  1. From the main menu, select Manage Cards.
  2. Choose your card and tap Request Credit Limit Increase.

Joint-owner's monthly payment and if they own the home, if applicable
Example: Rent is $900 and the joint-owner responsible for two-thirds. Their monthly housing payment is $600.

  2. Look for the Travel Information section at the bottom of the page, then select Travel Notification.
  3. Select Add a trip or if there's a previously entered notification you want to modify, select Edit trip or Delete trip.
  4. Enter your trip details, then select Save.

With Online Banking, you have the flexibility to make a same day payment, schedule a future payment or sign up for AutoPay, where your payment is scheduled on the same day each month. You can use a U.S. Bank checking account or an external account to make payments to your credit card. If you choose to set up an external payment account, it only needs to be set up once for all future payments.

To make a payment:

  1. Log in to Online Banking.
  2. Under the "Transfers and Payments" tab, select "Pay My Account."
  3. Select the Account you are paying, and the Account you are paying from.
  4. Select the frequency, either Once for a onetime payment, or Recurring to set up AutoPay.
  5. Complete the remaining payment information and select Continue.
  6. Review the payment details and click Submit.

To sign in to Online Banking:

  • Go to the Online Banking sign in page.
  • Enter your Client Card number (or username) and password. If you’ve created a username before, you need to use it to sign in.
  • Click Sign In.

As a personal banking client you'll need your RBC Royal Bank Client Card or credit card to enrol.

If you are an automotive finance, mortgage, credit line, Homeline, loan or investment client, you’ll need your account number and transit number.

If you’d like to enrol your business account for Online Banking, you’ll need your RBC Royal Bank Business Client Card.

Your banking password is the same for both online and mobile, so you can reset it either way.

Online banking:

Go to the Online Banking Sign-In page and select Reset Your Password, just below the Password field. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

RBC Mobile Users:

If your account is temporarily disabled, you can tap the Reset Password link anytime directly from the Sign In page. Then follow the instructions on the screen.

You will be sent a temporary authentication code via text (SMS), email or voice mail, which ever you prefer.

Remember: You’ll need your RBC Royal Bank Client Card number or an RBC Royal Bank Credit Card number associated with Online Banking.

The next time you’re going to sign in:  

  • Enter your Client Card number/username and password
  • Check the box Remember Me.
  • Click Sign In.

You can make a bill payment in Online Banking.

Before you can make bill payments in Online Banking, you'll need to set up a list of payees. Sign in to Online Banking and select the "Manage Payees" option from the Accounts Summary page. You can then choose “Add Payee” in the left side menu and follow the instructions.

To make a payment online:

  • From the Accounts Summary page go to Quick Payments & Transfers on the right side of the page. You can also click on "Pay Bills" from the information box at the top of the page when viewing your chequing or savings account.
  • Select the Amount, the "From" Fellowship one technologies login and the recipient in the "To" field.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and select “Submit.”

Whether you're at home or away you can arrange to have payments and transfers made at a predetermined frequency or specified dates. Simply specify the amount and how often you want the transfers to occur (such as once a week, every 2 weeks or once a month).
