Easiest dispute ever

Credit Karma Member

I've had this card for a few years now. It's definately not my lowest interest card but it is the highest limit. It gets raised fairly easily. The most impressive thing however is the dispute center. I had a charge that I didn't recognize, clicked the blue dispute button online, and bam, I got instantly reimbursed. No phone calls, no hassle. Just done. Very impressive.

Most helpful negative review

Credit Karma Member

I have a credit score of 816 and got a instant approval for $9400. I got this card to use for my business and have had it less then a month but they have stopped it multiple times for fraud...there is no fraud I'm just using it...stopped it 3 times just in the last 24 hours. The customer service is rude on the phone and I never know if its going to work because they keep putting fraud holds on it. I've had the card for 3 weeks and have spent and paid $15,000 and have a zero balance. They are still rude on the phone...and here we go again... 4th fraud email just came thru...this is now 4 in the last 24 hours. Now time for another 30 min phone call to get it taken care of... I regret the credit inquiry and I regret getting this card... I think I'll just go back to using my discover. The main purpose of this review...which I never write reviews... is the HORRIBLE customer service.

Stacks Cashback quick

Credit Karma Member

I’ve had this card for about 5 years now. It was the first card I ever got when I was starting college and I’ve never had any problems with it. I was approved at $2000 when I was working part-time but since graduating and working full-time my limit now sits at $6500. The 2% Cashback rate is awesome and it’s great to watch your money stack up or convert them to Thankyou points to travel!

Didn't get approved & Have good credit

Credit Karma Member

Don't waste your time applying or adding this inquiry onto your report, got denied even though I have good credit.

Worst Credit Card on the Market

Credit Karma Member

This credit card is the reason why credit cards get a bad rap. Nickel and dimed at every corner. Even if you pay off entirety of the balance before due date, they charged interest even when the balance is at $0.00. Called customer service, if you can even call it that in regards to wrong charges and there was absolutely no help to get the wronged charge fixed. Had the card for less than 6 months and already closing it due to bad overall experience. Look at the other reviews online, this card absolutely sucks. Go with a different card. Even Debt Collectors have better customer service than Citi 0/5.

Too much nonsense with this card

Credit Karma Member

You must wait until AFTER the billing cycle closes to earn the first 1% cash back on purchases. You then have to pay the bill and wait another billing cycle to earn the other 1% cash back. Then, you can not redeem less than $25 and the 3% foreign transaction fee is higher than the cash back earned not to mention that customer service is horrible, they never seem to understand when you explain your issues. I am doing much better with my FIFTH THIRD PREFERRED CARD which gives me 2% cash back unlimited, no categories to keep up with and I can redeem my cash back for any amount at any time after the transactions posts AND it does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Worst system management

Credit Karma Member

I got this card recently and I couldn’t add on my apple wallet for a glitch that citi card had. Then when I called them they are like “Your card will stay blocked untill you receive a reference number via mail within 3/5 business days” , when I asked them “why” then they are like “oh we have to do inquiry for possible fraudulently” all right when I got the reference number, I called them and told them the number and they are like “oh your card is now activated” then, when I went to do a purchase by the card my card got declined again, I called them again and told them… they replied “you will get another reference number within 3/5 business days until then your card will stay blocked status” I mean I use Amex card, Discover, Capital one, Bank of america cash rewards. never had this kind of issue… it feels like they don’t even care, their system is totally broken… I would suggest don’t get this card or any card from citi bank, they have the worst management.

It's simply the best rewards card out there

Credit Karma Member

There's no gimmicks with this one - just a 2% cash back (1% on purchases, 1% on payments). I pay off my card and sometimes make multiple payments before end of billing cycle to avoid interest (currently in the 13's%). I've also enjoyed using the payment safeguard feature in the past when things came up -- unfortunately, they no longer offer this service for new accounts but I've kept it. Customer service has been a great experience for me. I haven't had any issues with purchases getting blocked either like some people here have, but I've had my account with Citi for over 7 years (I've switched products a couple of times). Switching products with Citi is easy if you're eligible and it doesn't affect your credit. I've also had no issues with credit line increases every 6 months by initiating the request. I'm currently around a 50k limit and I use about 10-20% monthly but it's paid off quickly. Overall, I use this card for all purchases instead of my bank card. This allows me to better control personal cash flow and collect some rewards on the side. Plus, having access to mastercard world elite is a great perk. I suppose with everything, YMMV. Having spending responsibility and payment responsibility will go a long way.

Poor service

Credit Karma Member

I have had this card for a little over 2 years. This card has great benefits, but Citi is a poor service company. I travel a great deal and got out of sync on one payment by 2 days for only one month and they reduced my credit limit. I have multiple cards with multiple groups and pay all of my bills on time. I have also never paid them late prior to this instance. It is quite absurd to reduce my credit limit for a true one off incident. I am paying off this card at the end of the month and will never use it again.

Timewaste of applying for citi cards

Credit Karma Member

I have applied and waited 2 weeks and when I talk to the customer care after 4 consecutive days one customer care said that they address which provided by bureau and provided by me on application was not matching and they rejected my application the CUSTOMER SERVICE is the worst one which I could have ever experiences none of the customer care persons have brain just they say itbis the policy they don’t even have some common sense

Good card

Credit Karma Member

Very easy and excellent card 2% on everything but the customer service is not the best!

Waste of time

Credit Karma Member

Iv had this card for 9 years it was my first credit card. I have never had a late payment once, yet they never want to increase my amount. I started 9 years ago with $500 limit, today I have a $1500 limit. I have requested a increase multiple times and they always Deny it. My credit score is 750 and I 6 other cards that have way higher limits . This card is useless to me. It also has almost no benefits.

Is a Citi Credit Card Right for Me?

Citibank offers a variety of credit cards to fit the needs of a variety of consumers and small businesses. The bank has cards that earn cash back, flexible points, or airline miles, while many offer 0% APR promos and other attractive benefits. It even offers secured credit cards for customers rebuilding their credit. With so many cards to choose from, Citibank has something for everyone.

What Credit Score Is Needed for a Citi Credit Card?

Citi generally targets consumers and small business owners with good to excellent credit, though it does offer student and secured card products that can accommodate those with less credit history or lower credit scores.

The score needed to get approved for the best Citi credit cards depends on which card you are applying for. While most options require anywhere from 670 to 850 in FICO scores, the bank also has a secured card for people who need help with their credit.

Can You Have More Than One Citi Credit Card?

Yes, as long as your credit enables you to get approved, you may have more than one credit card. Citibank restricts bonuses on new applications if you've received a bonus from the same card, or family of cards, in the previous two to four years, depending on the card being applied for.

How Good Is Citi Customer Service?

Citi received a score of 801 out of 1,000 points in the 2020 J.D. Power U.S. Credit Card Satisfaction Study. The average score among major national issuers was 810. Citi offers online access to FICO credit scores through its mobile app and through its secure website when cardholders are logged in.

What Is the History of Citi?

Citi credit cards are issued by Citibank, which itself is part of the global financial services giant Citigroup. Citi began issuing credit cards in the 1960s in New York City but greatly expanded its reach in the early 1980s when it took advantage of South Dakota's repeal of usury laws that had restricted the amount of interest banks could charge customers. The new law also allowed banks headquartered in that state to charge higher interest to residents of other states, a move that was upheld in a landmark Supreme Court ruling. As a result, Citi moved its credit card operations from New York to South Dakota and grew rapidly by leveraging the mass medium of the day—direct mail—to make these higher-rate offers to consumers across the nation. Through these efforts, Citi's credit card operations changed from being the least profitable to the most profitable division among Citigroup.

Today Citi offers a variety of cards to consumers and small business owners, with rewards that include cash back, points, and miles. Its cards also provide options for cardholders wishing to transfer balances, manage spending, and plan for larger purchases. In addition, Citi maintains co-brand partnerships with major air carriers like American Airlines and major travel sites like Expedia.

I got this card to use for my business and have had it less then a month but they have stopped it multiple times for fraud.there is no fraud I'm just using it.stopped it 3 times just in the last 24 hours. The customer service is rude on the phone and I never know if its going to work because they keep putting fraud holds on it. I've had the card for 3 weeks and have spent and paid $15,000 and have a zero balance. They are still rude on the phone.and here we go citi card customer service. 4th fraud email just came thru.this is now 4 citi card customer service the last 24 hours. Now time for another 30 min phone call to get it taken care of. I regret the credit inquiry and I regret getting this card. I think I'll just go back to using my discover. The main purpose of this review.which I never write reviews. is the HORRIBLE customer service.

Stacks Cashback quick

Credit Karma Member

I’ve had this card for about 5 years now. It was the first card I ever got when I was starting college and I’ve never had any problems with it. I was approved at fifth third bank credit card login when I was working part-time but since graduating and working full-time my limit now sits at $6500.

You then have to pay the bill and wait another billing cycle any nail salons open today earn the other 1% cash back. Then, you can not redeem less than $25 and the 3% foreign transaction fee is higher than the cash back earned not to mention that customer service is horrible, they never seem to understand when you explain your issues. I am doing much better with my FIFTH THIRD PREFERRED CARD which gives me 2% cash back unlimited, no categories to keep up with and I can redeem my cash back for any amount at any wells fargo bank routing number san francisco ca after the transactions posts AND it does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Worst system management

Credit Karma Member

I got this card recently and I couldn’t add on my apple wallet for a glitch that citi card had. Then when I called them they are like “Your card will stay blocked untill you receive a reference number via mail within 3/5 business days”when I asked them “why” then they are like “oh we have to do inquiry for possible fraudulently” all right when I got the reference number, I called them and told them the number and they are like “oh your card is now activated” then, when I went to do a purchase by the card my card got declined again, I called them again and told them… they replied “you will get another reference number within 3/5 business days until then your card will stay blocked status” I mean I use Amex card, Discover, Capital one, Bank of america cash rewards. never had this kind of issue… it feels like they don’t even care, their system is totally broken… I would suggest don’t get this card or any card from citi bank, they have the worst management.

I'm currently around a 50k limit and I will always love you quotes for her use about 10-20% monthly but it's paid off quickly.

I have applied and waited 2 weeks and booking com login usa I talk to the customer care after 4 consecutive days one customer care said that they address which provided by bureau and provided by me on application was not matching and they rejected my application the CUSTOMER SERVICE is the worst one which I could have ever experiences none of the customer care persons have brain just they say itbis the policy they don’t even have some common sense

My credit score is 750 and I 6 other cards that have way higher limits. This card is useless to me. It also has almost no benefits.
