The Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) recommends the following actions to prevent the spread of coronavirus, influenza, and other seasonal illnesses.

AT&T: AT&T will not terminate the service of any wireless, home phone or broadband residential or small business customer because of their inability to pay their bill due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, AT&T will waive late fees if related to disruptions casued by COVID-19.

Comcast: Comcast will not disconnect a customer’s internet service or assess late fees if they contact Comcast and let Comcast know that they can’t pay their bills during this period.

ComEd: ComEd has voluntarily implemented a moratorium on service disconnections for non-payment, effective immediately. This suspension will apply to both residential and commercial customers and will remain in effect at least until May 1. Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Announces Help for Citizens first bank the villages Struggling to Make Payments on their Debts Due to the COVID-19 Crisis and Guidance for its Regulated Financial Sectors

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation today announced a series of actions to ensure the protection of Illinoisans in many areas of consumer borrowing, servicing, and collections. The Department also provided Guidance to its regulated entities, state banks, credit unions, installment lenders, payday lenders, title loan lenders, sales finance lenders including auto loans, currency exchanges, student loan servicers, mortgage servicers, and collection agencies concerning their lending, servicing, and collection during the COVID-19 pandemic.

IDFPR guidance for state banks and credit unions and help for their consumers

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Division of Banking and Division of Financial Institutions strongly urges banks and credit unions to respond to borrowers affected by the current economic environment, such as small businesses, hourly workers, and independent contractors.

Although IDFPR is aware that many state banks and credit unions are already providing modifications, forbearances, and new loans to consumers and businesses, IDFPR is encouraging all banks and credit unions to consider taking the following actions:

• Offering payment accommodations (such as allowing north texas jellystone to defer payments at no cost or extending the payment due dates)
• Providing new loans on favorable terms to businesses and consumers

Actions that have been taken:

1. Governor Pritzker issued an Executive Order on March 20, 2020 pausing all evictions from homes and rental units.

If you are struggling to make you student loan payments, here is some important information you should know:

Actions that have been taken by Congress for federal student loans held by the US Department of Education:

2. The Department is encouraging debt collectors and debt buyers to work with consumers to accommodate hardships due to the COVID-19 crisis, including to suspend collection activity for a period of at least 60 days.
3. Consumers should be aware of their rights, including:

Beginning March 27, 2020 and continuing for the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, the provisions of the Uniform Commercial Code, 810 ILCS 5/9-609, regarding the possession or usability of a vehicle, and the provisions of the Illinois Vehicle Code, 625 ILCS 5/3-114, regarding the repossession of vehicles, are suspended. No provision contained in this Executive Order shall be construed as relieving any individual of the obligation to make payments or comply with any other obligation that an individual may have pursuant to a loan agreement or otherwise.

The Paycheck Protection Program established by the CARES Act, is implemented by the Small Business Administration with support from the Department of the Treasury.  This program provides small businesses with funds to pay up to 8 weeks of payroll costs including benefits. Funds can also be used to pay interest on mortgages, rent, and utilities.

The Restaurant Employeee Relief Fund is a program of the Illinois Resautarant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF). This fund provides one-time grants of $500 to support restaurant employees facing an unforeseen hardship due to COVID-19. Grants will help to cover basic living expenses such as rent, food, and utlities.

Signs of stress:

  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Fearfulness 
  • Anger
  • Fatigue
  • Helplessness
  • Physical complaints
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Lack of concentration
  • Loss of Appetite

What can you do?

  • Eat well. Even if you don’t want to. Eat food that has nutritional quality. The reaction to stress can lower your energy level, and now more than ever you need to remain strong.
  • Get some exercise. It is especially important to get some physical exercise even during the Shelter-In-Place order. Exercise first united credit union login relieve stress. Even a short walk can help.
  • Get enough rest. You can’t do everything, even if you feel like you can. Don’t burn yourself out. If sleeping at night is difficult, try drinking juice or milk. Citizens first bank the villages or watching TV can help, too.

Remember, your emotional response to COVID-19 is NORMAL. If symptoms continue to worsen, get the help of a professional to assist you in the process.

Stress responses in kids

Just like adults, each child reacts differently to stress. Some kids might want to talk about, while others may not. What’s important is to give them an opportunity to talk about that they are feeling. It’s ok citizens first bank the villages follow their lead. Focus on speaking calmly and reassuringly.

  • Excessive fear of the dark

Give your child information which can be easily understood. Most importantly, give a lot of reassurance to your child. The family is the best source of help and comfort for your child.
